The University of North Texas will present a Night of Percussion on Thursday April 12th at 8pm in the Concert Hall. This free concert will feature UNT's classical percussion ensembles directed by Christopher Deane, Dan Darrah and myself. Works to be performed will include: The Furious Angels - Jeffrey Peyton Hook - Graham Fitkin Dining Room Music - Rupert Kettle Concerto for Timpani - Jay Batzner Three Dance Movements - William Russell and others... Also please plan to attend UNT's Global Rhythms on April 26th in the Concert Hall. This concert will feature drum set artist Steve Smith with the UNT Contemporary Percussion Ensemble directed by Paul Rennick and Jamal Mohamed from SMU with UNT's South Indian Cross Cultural Ensemble directed by Poovalur Sriji. Other ensembles on the concert will be The UNT Gamelan “Bwana Kumala” directed by Ed Smith, The 2:00 and 8:00 Steel Drum Bands directed by Mark Ford and Josh Smith, and the Graduate Percussion Ensemble directed by Mark Ford. It should be a great evening!! Admission is $5. There are also numerous student percussion degree recitals this month at UNT.
