Long respected as the premier builder of professional euphoniums and tubas, the Willson Company has now introduced professional model trumpets and cornets, and intermediate model trumpets in addition to their French horns and trombones.
Ed Stevens, Product Manager for Willson Instruments says Vincent Gillig, principal trumpet in the Philharmonic Orchestra of Strasbourg was instrumental in design and development of the trumpet. Phillip Cobb, an 18 year old cornet soloist with the Salvation Army International Staff Band is the leading proponent of the new cornet designs.
Professional model (600 series) trumpets are available in lacquer or silver plate, with two bore size options, .464 and .470. Two bell material choices include yellow brass or gold brass. These trumpets also offer two mouthpipe choices, a reverse or standard leadpipe. The professional trumpets include a first valve slide U hook or saddle and third valve slide fixed ring.
Intermediate trumpets (500 series) are available in lacquer or silver finish, and feature a U hook or saddle on the first slide, and an adjustable third slide ring.
New Professional Cornets (400 series) are available in lacquer or silver finish, and have a .470” bore. All cornet bells are shepherd’s crook design, available in yellow or gold brass options. Standard or reverse leadpipes are available options. The cornets are available with triggers on first and third slides, or trigger on first and main tuning slide.
