05.24.2006 // Dynasty USA welcomes Father Ryan High School



Dynasty USA is pleased to announce that Father Ryan High School Band (Nashville, TN) has agreed to join the Dynasty USA family effective May 2006. Father Ryan’s Indoor Percussion Ensemble has performed in every WGI season since the inaugural 1993 season, and has been a finalist for 13 years. They were Scholastic A Champs in 1995 and 1996, secured a GOLD MEDAL in 2000 in Scholastic Open. In 2005 Father Ryan made the jump to Scholastic World, making finals each year.

Jeff Schletzer holds a BS & Masters in Music Ed as a percussion major from Austin Peay University, and taught 29 years, 4 years at McEwen High School and 25 years at Father Ryan High School.
He is originally from Oakland City, Indiana, and now resides in Nashville, TN. He has been Married 30 years to his beautiful wife Sheree, and has been blessed with six children Derek, Dustin, Kristin, Courtney, Chad, Kyle, granddaughter Madison, and daughter-in-law Kim.

Dustin Schletzer attendend and graduated from Middle Tennessee State University, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education. While at MTSU, Dustin studied under Lalo Davila, Andy Smith, Brad Palmer, Christian Brooks, and was an active percussionist in the Wind Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble, Steel Drum Ensemble, MTSU Marching “Band of Blue”, and the 2001/04 PASIC Indoor Marching Percussion Ensembles.
Schletzer has been involved with several marching percussion ensembles within Drum Corps International and Winter Guard International. Before joining the staff of The Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps for the 2006 season, Dustin’s drum corps experience was exclusively with the Santa Clara Vanguard. He was a member of the SCV percussion section from 2001-03, and was the snare technician for the 2004 and 2005 seasons.
Dustin’s winter percussion involvement has included Music City Mystique as well as the Father Ryan High School Percussion Ensemble where he has served as a battery technician since 2002. He also currently serves as the percussion director for the McGavock High School Marching band.
Dustin is an artist for Innovative Percussion, Inc. and has had the pleasure of working under and with many influential percussion educators - Glen Crosby, Ralph Hardimon, Jim Casella, Murray Gusseck, David England, Derek Schletzer, Jeff Schletzer, John Harvill, Jim Ragsdale, Jim Ancona, Chris Retschulte, Jeff Hoffman, David Reeves, and Bill Bachman. 


 David England is in his 12th year as the percussion arranger and program coordinator for the Father Ryan High School Percussion Section from Nashville, TN. I also teach 6th,7th, and 8th grade band at Blackman Middle School in Murfreesboro, TN. I graduated from Middle Tennessee State University where I studied with Lalo Davila. My marching experience is with the Cadets of Bergen County and MTSU. I was on staff for the Dutch Boy Drum and Bugle Corps and on staff as arranger/instructor for Middle Tennessee State University as well as several area high schools. I'm also very fortunate to be an Innovative Percussion artist. I live in historic Watertown, Tennessee with my lovely wife Jennifer and my two wonderful children Breanna and Aaron. Jennifer and I are the youth directors for the Emmanuel Church and enjoy ministering to youth of all ages. Father Ryan and I are proud to be joining the Dynasty team. God Bless!!!


Derek Schletzer is a Co-Director at Father Ryan HS. His duties include coordinating the parachiol school's percussion programs at St. Henry, St. Bernard, Christ the King and Father Ryan HS. Derek's experience in marching percussion began as early as 4 years old when he debuted his marching skills with a kazuu performance that left the crowd in awe. Derek began performing in high school as an original member of the Father Ryan Winter Drumline in the 1st WGI World Championships in 1993. He went on to be a part of the first World Championship at Father Ryan in 1995. After Derek graduated in from Father Ryan he attended Middle Tennessee State University and particiapated in the Marching Band, Wind Ensemble, Orchestra, and Percussion Ensembles. Derek was also a member of the 4th place 1996 MTSU PASIC line. Derek also participated in the snare line of 1996 World Champions and 1999 snare lines of Music City Mystique. His drum corps experience was with the snare line of the Canton Bluecoats in 1997 and 1998. Derek served on the percussion staff at the Bluecoats in 1999. Since then he has been actively involved with the Father Ryan Drumline which he has served on staff since 1997. Derek resides in Lavergne, TN with his beautiful wife Kim and three year old daughter Madison. In his free time, Derek enjoys spending valuable time with his family.

John Harvill was a charter member of the Music City Mystique indoor drumline, earning three world titles in his six years as a marching member from 1995 to 2000. In 2001, he returned to Music City Mystique on staff for the next three years. John has filled the leadership role for world class groups such as Middle
Tennessee State University, Music City Mystique and The Bluecoats Drum & Bugle Corps from Canton Ohio.
John is now very active in teaching and writing now for various levels of percussion from high schools to college to Independent lines all over the Mid South area. Some of his credits include Middle Tennessee State University, Mt. Juliet High School and Father Ryan High School since 1997. This summer he is very happy to be branching out all over the country through Superior Band Camps. John is an avid endorser of Innovative Percussion and Dynasty drums. He currently lives in Nashville, Tennessee with his cat Louis.
