12.20.2005 // Meet Craig Dunn, Executive Director of Rhythm X Independent World
First of all, please tell us a little bit about yourself.

My name is Craig Dunn and I am the executive director of Rhythm X Independent World. I have been arranging and teaching percussion in central Ohio for 13 years. I am the assistant director of bands at Olentangy Liberty High School and teach first grade in the Olentangy School district. I was born and raised in Westerville, Ohio and marched in the Westerville South High School Marching Band. I have taught percussion at Westerville North High School, Westerville South High School, Fairborn High School, and Olentangy Liberty High School.

2. How did drumming become a part of your life?

When I was in the third grade I wanted to play trombone. We went to a marching band concert at Westerville South and my dad pointed out to me that the most graduating seniors were in the drum line. So I took my dads words to heart and decided drumming was for me! I took private lessons from Jeff Hartsough from the third grade through seventh grade. I often wondered if I would ever play drums beyond Jeff's front door. I can never thank him enough for everything he taught me.

This 5 octave rosewood world class instrument received many favorable reviews from the world's premier marimba players and teachers. We knew this new instrument would be a hit, but the quality and the workmanship....and the reception....was a pleasant surprise. There are many unique features on this marimba, which is perfect for the professional marimbist, college studios and serious players of the marimba.

Dynasty USA is pleased to unveil it's new interview with Jeremy R. Pratchard who is the Assistant Director of Bands at the University of Arkansas. Enjoy seeing what is going on down at U of ARK. "We made the switch to Dynasty this season here at the University of Arkansas, and the drums are sounding and performing SWEET. I've never been happier with the quality of my instruments than I am with these drums. The tenor design alone sets Dynasty apart from all other companies, but the snares and basses are definitely above the rest as well. It's easy to get great sound and projection from anywhere on the field with these drums!"

10.31.2005 // New Member of the Dynasty USA Family University of Arkansas!
Dynasty USA wants to welcome to the family Jeremy R. Pratchard and the University of Arkansas! Welcome and good luck for the rest of 2005 marching band season!

10.30.2005 // DCUK Report (Highlights) by Ian Scaife...........

In 1st place (80.2) were Southern Aurora who, as a result of A-Class victory, would step up to Open Class finals in the evening to rub shoulders with the big boys and, you never know, maybe take a scalp or two! We’ll talk about that later, all I will say about the mighty SA at this stage is that their A-Class finals performance was stunning….simply stunning!

Open Class Finals

Southern Aurora were first on in finals and their enthusiastic and vocal following set the atmosphere. Their show is entitled ‘Means of Access’ and I understand that it was composed by the staff. The product is dark, complex and extremely sophisticated and is very stylistic in terms of the trademark sound and look the corps created in the past. The music is challenging yet always gripping. Powerful one moment yet extremely haunting or tender the next. Whilst the show is very challenging, the viewer is drawn into it with their focus being directed to the right place at the right time as a result of intelligent and gripping show design combined with extreme performance levels. Since their 2002 Open Class championship year, Southern Aurora undertook a rebuilding program which makes the achievements of the 2005 staff and members all the more unbelievable. These guys are well on the way to becoming a drum corps powerhouse once again…. Correction: they ARE a drum corps powerhouse

10.04.2005 // Kidsgrove Scouts take DCUK Percussion Title

Malcolm McCoy (friend) and I (Brandon McDonnell) have a favorite drum company, Dynasty USA. I think you know of us. I bought an exact replica of the Blue Devils 2001 snare drum. Malcolm had bought an actual Dynasty snare drum that the Blue Devils marched with in 2002. We are great fans of your company. I wanted the banner so that I would be able to hang it in my room. I have like every peice of Dynasty logowar there is. When I went to the DCI World Finals I saw the Dynasty stand that you had there and I liked the banner. Thanks alot for helping me get one. In the picture it is Malcolm McCoy (left) Brandon McDonnell (right)

07.27.2005 // GLASSMEN and BASF: A Winning Combination
Whitehouse, OH - In the second year of a cooperative effort, the GLASSMEN have teamed up with a local BASF coatings research and development facility to create a drum sensation like no other - and helped to make the corps' drumline one of the top in the nation! Karl Schnapp, Manager at BASF's Whitehouse, Ohio, site (and alumni and former staff of the GLASSMEN) had initially suggested finishing the drums in an innovative line of custom automotive paint. Last year, they used "Copperhead Bronze" from the "Extreme Colors" series, which traveled in color from gold to orange to bronze.

06.21.2005 // Dynasty USA and Glassmen team up for EnterTRAINment Clinic!
On June 18, 2005 Dynasty USA and the Glassmen Drum and Bugle Corps teamed up for the first EnterTRAINment clinic of the 2005 season. Held at Toledo's "The Glass Bowl" the clinic attracted some 500 people including students, band directors and alumni. Members of the Glassmen staff gave a hands on clinic within their own sections where students were allowed to participate along side of members of the 2005 Glassmen. They were allowed a look into the wonderful world of drum corps from a performers stand point. Afterwards the full corps did an ensemble rehearsal so that students and band directors could see how such a large group rehearses efficiently. It was quite a display by the Glassmen, its staff and members. It was obvious that all of the participants took something away from that clinic that they will be able to use forever.

06.07.2005 // Bill Bachman's Trip to Peru
Greetings! As many of you know, I recently went on a mission trip to Comas Peru with a group of 19 from Fellowship Bible Church here in Nashville.I've been back for a week now and life is pretty much back to normal. There is really too much to tell about all that happened on the trip, but here's some of the story: Comas Peru is a suburb of Lima on the west coast of South America. There it hardly ever rains so there is virtually no grass which leaves us with dust, and a lot of it. There are also few government regulations on sanitation and emissions, which leaves it on the dirty, smelly, and smoggy side of things. My church here in Nashville has partnered with the Christian Alliance church in Comas so we were down there to help their church grow and generally sharpen each other. My specific role on this trip was to play music, work construction, and video everything (I'll have pictures soon coming from a friend who was along with us). It was also fun for me to speak Spanish as much as possible, everyone on both sides of the language barrier got a kick out of that. (I'm admittedly a spanglish hacker.)

Toledo, OH - The GLASSMEN Drum & Bugle Corps serenaded hundreds of ticket holders for the Maumee House Raffle last weekend in Maumee, Ohio. The members of the corps made their first public debut Saturday as part of the evening entertainment prior to the actual drawing for the cash prizes. The unique raffle was a joint fundraiser between the GLASSMEN and the local Maumee High School Band and Athletic Boosters - and it was a smashing success! The entire evening was to originally take place outdoors in Maumee High School's Kazmaier Stadium, and although the weather had eventually forced them indoors, it didn't dampen any spirits that night. The high school band members played for the ticket holders during dinner, and once the festivities moved inside the gym, the GLASSMEN entered the floor to a rousing ovation. Interspersed with a bit of helpful commentary about the corps from director Brian Hickman, the members performed pieces from their upcoming Valentine Theatre performance and the 2005 summer production, "A New World."
