Discover Marty Erickson
Marty Erickson was principal tubist and tuba soloist with the U.S. Navy Band in Washington D.C. for 26 years. He has appeared as a soloist and clinician in 48 of the 50 states and also throughout Western Europe, Japan, Sweden, Finland, and Bermuda. He has performed under the baton of many of the world's best known orchestral and band conductors, including Arthur Fiedler, Rafael Fruhbeck de Burgos, Mistislav Rostropovich, Hugh Wolf, Julius Rudel, John Williams, Alexander Sander, Gunther Schuller, Frederick Fennell, William D. Revelli, Donald Hunsberger, Harry Begian, and John P. Paynter.
Erickson is active in many professional organizations. He is Past President of T.U.B.A.; the Adjucating Chairman for the Leonard Falcone International Euphonium & Tuba Festival; and serves on the boards of Colonial Tuba-Euphonium Institute and the Quorum Chamber Arts Collective. His teaching philosophy, based on many years of having to produce every day as a professional musician, is practical and straightforward. He promotes the idea of "Hire" education - teaching and helping tuba players to find and win satisfying jobs as performers and teachers.
