Discover Dr. Steven Maxwell
Dr. Steven Maxwell has been enthusiastically received as a solo artist around the United States and has risen to success as a fresh young performer, teacher, and clinician.
Currently, Dr. Maxwell is Instructor of Tuba and Euphonium at Kansas State University. In addition, he teaches courses in brass techniques, music fundamentals, music appreciation. Dr. Maxwell also performs with the Kansas State University Brass Quintet and is the director of the KSU Tuba Euphonium Ensemble.
In addition to his musical studies with numerous distinguished tuba artists, Dr. Maxwell holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in tuba performance from the University of MissouriâKansas City Conservatory of Music and received his Master of Music and Bachelor of Music in Education from Kansas State University and Iowa State University respectively.
Dr. Maxwell's touring schedule regularly takes him throughout the United States. He has performed at numerous conference and university venues throughout the country. He has recently made solo appearances with The University of St. Thomas Concert Band in St. Paul, MN and the Kansas State University Symphony Band on a tour throughout the Midwest and Great Plains. In addition to performing in numerous orchestras and bands throughout the country, Dr. Maxwell has held the position of principal tuba with the Chautauqua Festival Orchestra in New York and the principal tuba with the Central Iowa Symphony and has been a member of the award winning Fountain City Brass Band in Kansas City, MO.
