Discover Eric Melson



Eric started his marching percussion career at Clovis West High School in Fresno, CA. Eric was able to drum under many great instructors while he was there such as Dave Glyde, Shawn Glyde, Mike Atesalp, Alan Kristensen, and Jeff Lee. In 1993, Eric had the opportunity to participate in the first ever WGI Percussion Championships and brought home a first place finish for Clovis West.
Eric went on and marched in the snare line for the Concord Blue Devils for four years. During his time there, the Blue Devils captured two DCI World Championships and two High Percussion awards.
After Eric aged out of the Blue Devils, he continued his marching career by joining the Sacramento Freelancers WGI percussion ensemble. During this season the Freelancers captured first place in the Independent Open category.
After performing, Eric went on to teach many percussion groups such as the Blue Devil ‘B’ corps, Yamato, Sacramento Freelancers, Clovis West High School, Clayton Valley High School, Buchanan High School, Tulare Union High School and Bullard High School.
Currently Eric is working towards a Bachelors degree in Music Education from California State University, Fresno. Eric is also currently caption head/ arranger for Clovis East High School, Propel Percussion, and Fever Drum & Bugle Corps. Eric is also the battery arranger for Clovis West High School, an instructor for the Fresno State Marching Band, and an instructor at the Shawn Glyde Drum School.
