Discover Tom Vincent



Master Sergeant Tom Vincent grew up in North Chicago, Illinois, where he studied trombone with James Gilbertsen of the Chicago Symphony. He received his Bachelor’s degree in music education from Lawrence University and also holds a Master of Science in Industrial Technology from Eastern Illinois University. Sergeant Vincent enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1986, and was first assigned to the Band of the Midwest at Chanute Air Force Base before being assigned to the Band of Mid-America at Scott Air Force Base in 1991. He has performed on euphonium and trombone with the Concert Band, Ceremonial Band, Shades of Blue Jazz Ensemble, Lincolnland Brass Quintet, Starlifter popular music combo, and is a founding member of the Four Star Brass tuba-euphonium ensemble. Works which he has premiered include the Concerto for Euphonium by Robert Jager and To the Edge of Space by Sam Pilafian and Patrick Sheridan. Sergeant Vincent is an active freelance trombonist in St. Louis, where he has performed with artists such as Bob Hope, Johnny Mathis, Maynard Ferguson, Tito Puente, Jr., Manhattan Transfer, The Four Tops and The Temptations. He can also be seen performing nation-wide with the Fabulous Motown Revue. Tom will retire from the Air Force in the summer of 2007 after 21 years of service and begin the next phase of his career as a member of the development staff at St. Louis University.
