Discover Mark Jenkins
A native of Las Vegas, NV, Mark began playing the euphonium at the age of 11. While in high school, he was a two-time finalist in the student euphonium division of the Leonard Falcone Tuba/Euphonium Competition, winning first place during his senior year. As a student of Dr. Brian Bowman at the University of North Texas, Mark returned to the Falcone competition in 2000, placing first in the euphonium artist category. Mark was also a finalist in the 2001 ITEC euphonium competition in Lahti, Finland. A year later, Mark won his current position with United States Marine Band, âThe Presidentâs Own,â stationed in Washington D.C. In addition to his regular duties in the band, Mark has been featured as a soloist with âThe Presidentâs Ownâ and has also taken part as a performer at the annual Army Band Tuba/Euphonium Conference at Fort Meyer, VA and the 2005 Northeastern Regional Tuba/Euphonium Conference held at West Point Academy, NY. Recently, Mark served as a guest artist at both the Southwestern Regional Tuba/Euphonium Conference in Las Vegas, NV and the International Euphonium Institute in Atlanta, GA. Mark received a Bachelorâs Degree in Music Performance from the University of North Texas at Denton, TX in 2003 and is currently pursuing a Masterâs Degree in Music from the University of Maryland at College Park, MD.
