FRANCIS H. (BUD) LAWS , Associate Professor of Music, joined the Wright State University faculty in 1972. He teaches applied trombone, euphonium and tuba and music education courses, performs in the faculty brass quintet and serves as assistant chair of the music department. Mr. Laws is in charge of the Garrett L. Wright Collection of historical and modern musical instruments and memorabilia donated to the university by a former Dayton resident, the late Garrett L. Wright.



A clinician for Willson instruments, he is a Willson triple threat, performing on the 2900S euphonium, 24ll large bore tenor trombone and 2551 bass trombone. In addition to presenting clinics and appearing as guest soloist in several states, He has performed as bass trombonist, tenor trombonist and tenor tubist with the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra and the Springfield Symphony Orchestra.



He is co-founder and frequent euphonium soloist with the Ohio Valley British Brass Band and has regularly performed as euphonium soloist at the Great Western Rocky Mountain Brass Band Festival in Silverton, Colorado and at the annual Colorado Brass Band Festival in Gunnison. He also performs regularly with the Ohio Valley Tuba Quartet and the Dayton Philharmonic Concert Band.
