Discover Dale Long
Dale Long received his Bachelor of Music Education from the Crane School of Music in 1979. He earned his Master of Music (Applied) degree from Northwestern University in 1980, where he was a student of the late Frank Crisafulli of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
Dale was the euphonium soloist with the Air Force Band of the West from 1981 through 1984. During his tenure with the Band of the West he was a featured soloist on five tours through the Southwestern United States and at the 1983 Texas Bandmaasters Association. After leaving the Air Force band program to accept a commission, he remained active as a soloist, clinician and adjudicator and has performed with a variety of musical groups on both euphonium and bass trombone in England, Ohio, Nebraska, and Vermont. Dale retired from the Air Force in 2001 and retired to his home state of Vermont, where he is currently the solo euhponiumist with both the Vermont Wind Ensmeble and the Green Mountain Brass Band. He is also currently the president of the GMBB board of directors.
