Discover Sunrisers, NY



The Sunrisers Drum and Bugle Corps are from Rockland County, NY and is a weekend-only, field competitive, educational activity that provides its members with an intensive education in the marching arts. The Sunrisers are 6-time Drum Corps Associates World Champions, and have been voted “The Corps of the ‘80’s” by the World Drum Corps Hall of Fame. Founded in 1954, the Sunrisers have a proud history of innovation and excellence. The Sunrisers was the first to introduce keyboard percussion and female color guards in DCA, during 1969, and the first to march in 7/8-time on the field, in 1999. The corps’ success in competition is fueled by a strong work ethic and a dedication to the pursuit of excellence. This has resulted in the Sunrisers garnering 6 DCA World Championships, 1 American Legion National Championship, and 31 appearances in the DCA World Championship Finals since 1966.The Director of the Sunrisers is Nick Yaworski and the Percussion Caption Head is Robert Villanova.
