Discover Reading Buccaneers



Founded in 1957, the Reading Buccaneers are a non-profit, education-oriented musical organization dedicated to providing life-altering experiences to members of all ages. The Buccaneers are a charter member of Drum Corps Associates and won the first-ever DCA world championship in 1965. Additional titles followed in 1968, 1979, 1980 and, most recently, in 2005 and 2006, both undefeated championship seasons. In 2005, the Buccaneers posted the second-highest score in DCA world championships history, a 98.45 out of 100, sweeping all judged captions.In 2007, 2008, 2009 , and 2010. The Bucs also went undefeated and in 2009 they set a new DCA high score record with a score of 99.025
The Buccaneers are known for entertainment, innovation and excellence in every caption. Nicknamed the "Balance in Blue" because of their historical versatility in handling a variety of musical styles, the Buccaneers have carved out a unique niche in DCA with their signature balanced sound and focus on classical and symphonic literature.
